Day 1: |
Marangu gate to Mandara – Chaka provides transport from Moshi town – 40 km to the gate (1980 m). clients will be passing on the forests, they will have chance to see a lot of birds and monkeys overnight Mandara hut (2700 msi). From Mandara clients will be able to visit Maundi Crater i.e. 2 hours walk on the clear path. |
Day 2: |
Mandara hut – Horombo: (11 km – 5/7 hours, 1000 m). The first part clients will be passing through the forest and then through the zone of giant heater near the start of the moorland. If you have time you may stay 2 nights at Horombo to help a climatisation. A good rearing day walk is up to saddle and the lower of Mawenzi. |
Day ¾: |
Horombo hut to Kibo: (10 km 5/7 hours 1000 m) – Kibo hut 4700 m is much more basic than Horombo and Mandara. In between Horombo and Kibo it is the last warer point. Clients will enjoy the black and white striped zebra line rock. There is no reliable water supply all water must be carried from Horombo or one of the last water point. |
Day 4/5: |
Kibo hut – Uhuru peak: 4 km takes 7/9 hours – 1200 m and 4 ½ /7 hours 2200m. Usually clients starts in the midnight to have chance to see the sunrise from the creator rim and to give them chance of avoiding the mist also they snow on the path of uhuru peak can still be frozen. The experience Chaka Adventure guide will assess clients abilities and peace the walk to arrive on the rim at the right time. From here the clients will descend from the roof of Africa back to Horombo hut. |
Day 5/6: |
Horombo hut – Marangu gate: (5/7 hours) in this day the clients will descend to Marangu gate. Mandara is the half way (a good place for break). After reaching Marangu gate, clients will be picked by Chaka adventure car to the hotel. |
